My First Podcast

Poetry Podcast 101
First of all I used the computer at school so it was challenging trying to get to know how to post this on my blog.  I used the Mac and used garage band.  A very kind library computer consultant helped me a bit, as well as the wonderful Mrs. Jochim!
Garage band was interesting once I got the vocals to stop buzzing by turning down the volume on the left side of the screen it went smooth.  I downloaded a song onto garage band via youtube.
Then I had to create an account in podbean and link my mp3 by sharing from garage band to get it posted to my blog.  Now I think that you can view my poetry podcast 101 from the link!
This was a fun assignment.  I think because I got to incorporate poetry into school work and I enjoy doing recording too!
Hope everyone got to figure out how to podcast!
Enjoy!

Using RSS Feeds

Well one of the news sites that I found had someone very passionate about the environment talking about global warming and how it is not a hoax.  I also found out through my rss feeds that it was national dictionary day and I learned what a runcibal spoon is, what is... a fancy spork.  There is a nurse shortage in the states I bet that problem will quickly cease with the rise in nursing students.  I think this will be a feed that I keep and check, although I am having trouble getting anything to come from the self.com one but I have been trying to fix it.  I like the sites I have chosen to get feeds from so I will try and follow them.  I found valuable and interesting information and I really didn't know what to expect with this assignment but to have the news coming to you instead of searching the web to find it is helpful and useful.

Twitter For Emerging Technology #2

For my second Emerging Technology assignment I chose to use http://www.twitter.com/.  It is all new to me, but what I did was sign up and created an account.  You can look for friends on this website and you can also follow people through twitter and keep being updated when they send a new tweet.  I simply signed up and then about 3 minutes later someone decided to follow me.  I guess you can look up friends by their names and you can get it connected to your cell phone through texting too.  Well it is useful if you are trying to keep up with people that you know. I think that movie stars, and other famous people use this site too.  People send tweets to let other people know what they are up to.  It would be a good way to keep up with people kind of like e mail but short ones.

I just put my full name for my profile.  I don't really want to add a picture or get into I don't really have the time. Plus, I like to use e mail and texting to my friends. I don't even have a facebook account, so I may be behind the times, who knows but I still keep up with friends.

This site is also useful to keep up with what people are doing that are famous, who wouldn't be on your facebook page.  I am not currently following anyone but one girl followed me as soon as I signed up and posted my first tweet.

   HOW TWITTER WORKS

First go to Twitter.com and register using your e mail address and create a password.
A confirmation email will be sent to your email, click on the link to verify your account which also gives you full access to the twitter website.
After the registration process is complete, then you will be able to start following people that are twitter users and be able to tweet.  Tweeting is sending messages on twitter about your status and what you are doing.

First Emergent Technology

The first Emergent technology tool that I chose to use for my blog is PhotoShow.
This is a website where you can upload your photos and create a slide show!  You can add things to the photos like captions and pick out different templates to use as well.
I signed in and created an account and the I uploaded my photos on to the site from my usb stick.  I think that the site is user friendly and that it is a good way to share photos and a creative way to link them to your blog post.
My PhotoShow is linked to my blog! Have fun viewing some of my photos from Maine!
The emerging technology takes trial and error to get it the way that you want it.

My first blogging experience...

Hello friends, my name is Lauren Hendershot and I am a new blogger.  This is my first experience blogging and setting up any kind of on line profile.  I think it has been a good experience thus far and I have honestly had to get some help from some people that know a little more about computers than I do, but it has been a learning experience.
Some tips that I have to oter new bloggers is that when you are on slideshare you can get direct access to blogger and if you already have your blog open then it will automatically post on your open blog.  I think that was a shortcut.
Happy blogging!
